The district office of Senator Robert Singer can help you to process your application to obtain or renew a commission as a notary public.
The Notary Public serves as an impartial witness to the signing of documents, attests to the signature on the document, and may also administer oaths and affirmations. The State Treasurer appoints a notary public for a five-year period and may renew the appointment for five-year increments. Candidates, who must be New Jersey residents and are at least 18 years of age, are sworn into office by the clerk of the county in which the candidate resides. Complete information regarding New Jersey Notary Publics is provided in the notary manual.
Your completed form requires the signature of a member of the New Jersey Legislature. You may send or drop off your completed application to our district office.
Additional information on the duties and process of becoming a notary can be found on the Treasury Department's website here: http://www.state.nj.us/treasury/revenue/dcr/programs/notary.html
